Dharma in the West is very present nowadays on the web with many sites dispensing information, teachings as well as city centers but very few physical centers are to be found with structures enabling teachers and practicians to settle on the very ground in the countryside.

That is to say that to be rooted in a country, Buddhism need to have places where it is possible to build monasteries, temples, stupa, etc… to shelter people far from city turmoil in a peaceful environment that promotes practice and offer natural resources. It has been the case since immemorial times and this is true not only for the Buddhist Dharma but any kind of spiritual path or religion; they elected places and formed organized communities, that is Sangha, which not only protect the followers but also interpersonnel relations that strengthen faith and are the food to work on oneself in relation with real situations. Having virtual centers on the web and studying, practicing attending to teaching session alone in one's corner while one is devoting one's time to earn a living by working for a salary or having one's own business, doesn't create a real Sangha and this will not create the conditions for the Dharma to root itself in the Western world and survive.
